NEW GLASGOW, NS - The Central Kings Senior Boys’ Basketball Team travelled to New Glasgow to play in North Nova Education Centre’s Anse MacDonald Tournament.

The Gators once again were playing against division one opponents as they continue to develop their skills for play in their own division in January.

In the first game, CK played division-one perennial powerhouse Halifax West. The Gators started strong and pushed to an early 17-5 lead but couldn't maintain their pressure and ended up on the short end of a 91-71 score.

Alex Parnell led the Gator attack with 21 points, while his brother Nathan added 13 points and Hayden Shepard had 14 points. Alex Parnell garnered Player of the Game honours for his effort.

In the second game against Parkview High School, Parkview came out of the gates strong and put Central Kings on their heels early and cruised to a 98-68 win. Player of the Game award winner Hayden Shepard led the Gator offence with 25 points and Nathan Parnell added 11.

The Gators played Northumberland High School in the third game. The Gators put together a solid effort in this match but with a depleted roster due to injury, they had to play the game with only eight players. They came out on the short end of a 58-48 score.

Shepard again was the top scorer with 22 points and Player of the Game winner Andrew Pineo chipped in with eight points and solid play on both ends of the floor.

The Gators next see action this coming weekend, when they travel to Bridgetown to play in a tournament. They play Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. against Shelburne and again on Dec. 16 against East Hants at 10 a.m. and Bridgetown at 3:30 p.m.
