The Avalanche travelled to Antigonish for their season opener Sept. 11 and were nosed out 14-12 by the John H. Gillis High School team.
However, following the game NSSAF officials determined that J.H. Gillis used an illegal player and the Avalanche was awarded the win.
They travelled to Central Kings on Sept. 17 to play the strong CK Gators and were defeated. They are set to play their third game of the season — and home opener — on Sept. 24 against Halifax’s Millwood High.
Millwood and Central Kings both have 2-0 records heading into play this weekend while Avon View and North East Kings have 1-1 records.
The Avalanche football team is continuing their drive for a new electronic scoreboard so their large contingent of fans will be able to follow the game more closely at home. They are asking people to support their 50-50 draw on game days and to fill up at their canteen while watching the team play.
