Batherson, McLean win Subway golf titles at Ken Wo tournament in New Minas

Drake Batherson of Ken-Wo and New Minas was the top local golfer after two rounds of the juvenile boys' golf provincials at Paragon in Kingston. Batherson shot rounds of 76 Monday and 79 Tuesday for a two-round score of 155.

Drake Batherson and Heather McLean, both of the host club, were crowned the champions of the annual Subway Junior Invitational golf tournament played July 22 at Ken-Wo in New Minas.

Batherson shot a 70 to lead the field, while McLean’s score of 90 was tops on the girls side.

Other top finishers on the boys’ side included Shaun Margeson at 71, Brady Margeson at 73, Blake Murphy at 74 and Ben Klaussen at 75.

Ian Lewis of Ashburn was the junior boys’ champion, Blake Murphy of Oakfield the juvenile boys’ winner, Shaun Margeson of Oakfield the bantam boys champion, and Brady Margeson of Oakfield the peewee boys’ champion. 

On the girls’ side, Lauren Pellerine was junior champion with a score of 100, Abbey Wisener of Ken-Wo was juvenile champion at 98, Mae Batherson of Ken-Wo the bantam champion at 92 and Haley Baker of Ashburn the peewee winner at 95.
