SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Brodie MacArthur scored twice Monday to pace the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals to a 4-1 win over the Valley Wildcats to close out 2018.

Sam Meisenheimer and Sullivan Sparkes also scored for the Caps, who did all of their scoring in the first period of the Maritime Junior Hockey League game.

T.J. Shea, Cam Roberts, Kallum Muirhead and Jesse Annear each had an assist.

Riley MacInnis from Landon Quinney and Tommy Roger responded with a power-play goal in the second period for the Wildcats.

Daniel Thompson made 37 saves for the victory while Chad Arsenault, who was called up from the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild major midget squad, turned aside 39 shots in the loss.

Valley was 1-for-5 on the power play and killed all three of Summerside’s chances with the man advantage.

The Caps won their third straight game to improve to 22-5-0-0 while the last-place Wildcats are 5-21-3-0. Former P.E.I. Rocket goal Evan Mosher is an assistant coach with the Wildcats.

Summerside hosts the Amherst Rambled Saturday at 7 p.m.
