Division final series tied 1-1 after Yarmouth Mariners have 6-4 win over South Shore

BRIDGEWATER, N.S. — One thing has so far been determined, neither team in the Eastlink South Division Final playoff series will be making a sweep in this playoff round.

After the South Shore Lumberjacks took game one of the series on Saturday in Yarmouth, the Mariners returned the favour in Bridgewater on Monday evening by winning Game 2.

With Yarmouth’s April 1, 6-4 win, the series is now tied 1-1 with Game 3 coming back to Yarmouth on Wednesday.

The first period in Game 2 ended with the two teams tied 2-2. Two of South Shore’s goals and one of Yarmouth’s were scored on the powerplay.

By the end of the second period the Mariners had pulled ahead 5-3, after scoring three unanswered goals in the second half of the frame.

South Shore pulled back within one goal midway through the third period. Yarmouth’s last goal came on the empty net with 27 seconds remaining in the game.

Scoring for the Mariners in the game were Matt Barron with a pair of goals (which included the empty netter), Landon Quinney, Andrew Martell, Brett Crossley and Connor Peveril.

In net for Yarmouth Tyler Caseley stopped 25 of 29 shots, while for South Shore Ty Grant had 35 saves on 40 shots.
