BERWICK, N.S. — The Valley Wildcats, a member of the Maritime Hockey League, recently announced that general manager Brandon Benedict has named Nick Parker as the assistant coach of the Wildcats’ bantam team.

Parker — a native of Brooklyn, Hants County — will assist incumbent head coach Travis Young.

A former player in the Wildcats midget program, Parker spent the last two seasons as coach of the major bantam Eastern Express on Prince Edward Island.

Parker’s playing career also includes stints in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Maritime Junior Hockey League and with the University of Prince Edward Island.

“I’m really excited to be back home coaching hockey in this area and can’t wait for the season to get going,” Parker said in a press release.

Benedict said he was equally pleased to have Parker back in the Wildcats fold.

“Nick’s playing career speaks for itself and we think he’ll find similar success behind the bench back here in the Valley,” Benedict said in a news release. “Myself and Travis are thrilled to have him.”
