WINDSOR, N.S. — The Avon View Avalanche girls’ hockey team are off to a strong start and are undefeated after five games.

The Avalanche blanked Yarmouth 10-0 in Southwestern Nova Scotia on Dec. 7 and then bombard Bridgetown 13-1 at the GFL Recreation Centre in Brooklyn Dec. 9.

Amy Lloy connected for a hat-trick in the 13-1 victory over the Annapolis County school. Lloy also collected two assists. Zoey Rafuse scored twice and added a couple of helpers.  Young Japanese sensation Yumi Miyano, now in her second year with the Avalanche, scored once and assisted on a pair while Julia Fisher scored twice and added one assist.  Other goal scorers were Makayla Kelvey, Delanie Harrt, Brea Hazel and Megan McCarthy who scored once and assisted on three others.

The Avalanche hosted Yarmouth Dec. 15 for a 5:20 p.m. start, and will play their final pre-Christmas game on the road in Barrington on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.
