CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Filip Rydstrom had a career night Saturday for the UPEI Panthers.

The former Charlottetown Islanders centre had four goals and an assist to pace the Panthers to an 8-3 victory over the Acadia Axemen in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action at MacLauchlan Arena.

Kameron Kielly had a goal and two assists while Gabe Guertler, Riley Whittingham and Nick Shumlanski also scored. Owen Headrick and Cody Payne each had two assists while singles went to Brent Andrews, Olivier Arseneau, Troy Lajeunesse, Sam Aulie and Chad Labelle.

Ryan Foss, Maurizio Colella and Rodney Southam responded with goals for Acadia with assists to Stephen Harper, Jackson Houck, T.J. Fergus and Jack Flaman.

Simon Hofley made 30 saves for the victory while Logan Flodell stopped 29 shots in the loss.

UPEI held 2-1 and 6-2 period leads. The Panthers improved to 4-4-0 while the Axemen fall to 2-6-0.
