WINDSOR, N.S. - King’s-Edgehill School’s women’s varsity volleyball team took on the Central Kings Gators Nov. 5, with one win and two losses.
KES won the first set, with a score of 25-19 and CK took the other two, winning 25-17 and 15-8.
KES coach Karlee Sinclair said this has been the team’s best year so far.
“The girls have been working hard and we certainly know how to push a game to a third set,” Sinclair said. “Although the season ended for us at pre-regionals on (Nov. 6), the team has practised tirelessly and always gives 110 per cent.”
Sinclair said the team has focused mainly on serve receiving and getting a good pass to the setter over the course of the season.
“Our biggest areas of development have definitely been our passing and serving skills,” she said. “The girls have grown exponentially, and they continue to show great progress with each practice.”
Sinclair said Sofia Jara’s serves remained consistent and strong throughout the season and Hidemi Sato was a solid libero for the team, making fantastic digs.
Nicola du Toit also perfected her timing in the middle position and was able to slow down multiple attacks from CK.
“It's always great watching the girls play and rise to any challenge they are confronted with,” she said. “I'm proud of their success this season.”
