The board of directors of the Bridgetown Area Sports Hall of Fame recently announced the 2019 inductees:
– Athletes – Philip Agombar (swimming), Leah (Ettinger) Nixon (who has won medals at national and international lifeguarding competitions) and Scott Currie (track and field).
– Volunteer – Mike Parker (Bridgetown triathalon)
– Coaches – Glen Melanson (BRHS) and Krista-Lynn Caldwell (coached the BRHS senior girls soccer team for 11 years, winning two provincial titles.
– Teams – An immensely talented group, the 1971-72 intermediate, and ’73 to ‘75 senior, BRHS girls track and field teams, and the 2001 Midget ‘A’ provincial hockey champion Bridgetown Hawks.
The newest members of the Bridgetown Area Sports Hall of Fame will be inducted during a special ceremony and dinner, on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Bridgetown Legion. Tickets are $25. Bridgetown has long enjoyed a rich and diverse sports heritage. This heritage includes the efforts of individuals and teams at all levels of sport, both at home and internationally. The Bridgetown and Area Sports Hall of Fame is dedicated to the recognition of those teams and individuals for their contribution to sport.
