MIDDLETON, N.S. — The Middleton Regional High School Doubles Team in the Junior Girls Division won the NSSAF Provincial Championship on April 13 at CEC in Truro.

En-route to Provincials they had second place positions at both Districts in Middleton and Western Regionals in Yarmouth with a record of 13 wins 5 losses, actually losing only two matches out of eight -- both to Annapolis West.

At Provincials they defeated Northumberland #1 Duncan MacMillan 22-20 and 21-17; Northumberland #2 River Hebert 21-12 and 21-9, Citadel #1 Park West 21-18 and 21-17; and once again suffering their only losses all year to Annapolis West 21-13 and 18-21 and 18-21 in the third game.

In the Championship match again against Park West -- with Odessa Baker continuing her dominance in the back court with high hard hits, and Emma Johnson continuing her dominance in the front court with her booming smashes -- they defeated Park West 21-18 and then a rousing 21-5 to take the Championship in resounding fashion.

Along the way in team play doubles through all three tournaments the Baker-Johnson duo were undefeated with 26 straight wins without a loss in helping their eight-member team to first place in Districts and Regionals and bronze at Provincials.

Other members of the Junior Team were Molly Peppard Girls Singles, Aiden Gallant Boys Singles, Carson Hayes and Lucas Melanson Boys Doubles, and Will Crouse and Hannah Johnson Mixed Doubles.

The eight-member Intermediate Team won first place at Districts and Regionals while the Mixed Doubles Intermediate Team of Alyssa Turner and Dan Bower won bronze as did Maggie Llewellyn in Senior Girls Singles.
