CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Ben Miller had 14 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Acadia Axemen past the UPEI Panthers 90-78 Friday in Atlantic University Sport men’s basketball action.
All five Axemen scored eight or more points with Rowan Power going for a team-high 16 points and former Holland College Hurricanes star Trevon Grant recording 12 points, nine rebounds, two steals and an assist.
Jack MacAulay led the host Panthers with 23 points, including five treys, while Milorad Sedlarevic had 17 points and Jamesley Jerome 15. Samuel Campbell had a game-high 11 rebounds.
UPEI led by nine midway through the first quarter but trailed 19-16 heading to the second quarter and 38-34 at the half. Acadia increased its lead to 62-55 after three quarters and led by as many as 16 with 4:15 to play.
The seventh-place Axemen improved to 6-12, six points up on last-place UPEI (4-13). The teams play again Saturday at 8 p.m.
