WINDSOR, N.S. — After a successful Natal Day weekend, the Windsor Knights have secured hosting rights to the Nova Scotia Intermediate Baseball League Championship Tournament.
The competition will be held Labour Day weekend at the Tremain Crescent baseball field in Windsor.
On Aug. 4, the Knights travelled to Pictou and swept the last place Royals by scores of 7-0 and 5-3, meaning that on Aug. 5 at noon, they were atop of the league standings — and therefore granted hosting privileges.
The Knights had an impressive 16-4 record for 52 points on Aug. 5, compared to the second place Sherose Island Schooners, who had a 14-6 record for 48 points.
The Schooners split a pair of games with the Truro Bearcats over the August long weekend, losing the opener 3-2 before winning the second game 4-3.

The following is a quick re-cap of the Knights’ two games.

Ryan Clarke was the winning pitcher, allowing six hits and no runs while striking out five.
Austin Sabean went three for four with an RBI, and Tyler Beach went two for four with two doubles and an RBI.
• Windsor Knights 5, Pictou County Royals 3
Veteran player Dave Swindall pitched a complete game win, striking out seven and allowing five hits.
Adam Ferguson was two for four with two runs scored — a double and an RBI. Elliott Dickson-Green was three for four with an RBI.

The Noel Road Jays, who are in a battle with the Pictou County Albions and the Amherst Athletics for the final two playoff positions, won four games over the Aug. 3-4 weekend.
• Noel Road Jays 9, Amherst Athletics 3
Kenny Miller went three for three for the Jays with three runs, three RBIs and a triple.
• Noel Road Jays 20, Amherst Athletics 7
Shaun Marshall and Mike White both drove in four runs for the Jays while Carson Gorman had a two-run double.
• Noel Road Jays 12, Truro Bearcats 8
The Jays scored four times in the second inning and then four times in the seventh to break an 8-8 tie.
Roland Provencal had a two run-homer for the Jays while Mike White went four for five with a double and two RBIs.
• Noel Road Jays 17, Truro Bearcats 1
Josh Burke went four for five, with five RBIs and two doubles for the Jays.
