BROOKLYN, N.S. — Coming off their 12-4 exhibition trouncing of the Metro Jaguars on Sept. 22, the Windsor Royals travelled to the Eastern Shore for their regular season opener in the Nova Scotia Regional Junior Hockey League.

It was a close, tight-checking game from the start but the Royals fell behind 3-0 after two periods. The third period was a different story as the Royals roared back with a pair of goals from Kyle Armsworthy and Brandon Sullivan whose goal with 1:14 remaining was a short-handed effort.

The Royals did everything they could to tie the game but had to settle for a one goal loss.

William Earley looked impressive in the Royals’ net blocking 33 of 35 shots for a .914 save percentage.

In Newport on Sept. 30, the Royals rolled over the Cumberland Colts by an 8-2 count.

The Royals took period leads of 5-0 and 7-1.

Sullivan added two goals and Tyler Dixon also added a pair. Jacob Caldwell, with his goal and two assists, posted a three-point night.

Other Royals scorers were Jackson Zwicker, Justin MacLellan and Tyler Comeau.

The Royals are set to play in Cumberland County on Oct. 5 and host Eastern Shore in Newport on Oct. 7.

The next chance to catch the Royals in action locally is Oct. 21 at the Hants Exhibition Arena at 7 p.m. for a match against the Colts.
