“I am recruiting for the Ladies Curling Night at the Windsor Curling Club,” Kitchin said. “The club has many competitive leagues throughout the week, but Monday nights are exclusively for the ladies.”
Kitchin said experienced curlers are available to give guidance and coaching for newer players.
“We can’t forget about the social aspect of the game too, which is so important,” she said. “I’d like to say it’s part of our Canadian culture.”
Kitchin said Ladies Nights can get creative, with members dressing up in costume and parties for holidays.
The club is also offering free clinics, where people can give the sport a try. Those are scheduled for Oct. 25 and 26, hosted by curling instructors.
“We know that sometimes people are nervous about trying it out, but we’re encouraging people just to give it a try,” she said.
Ladies Night starts officially on Oct. 30.
“The ladies night is not really a competitive evening, it’s just a lot of fun,” she said. “There’s a lot of socializing.”
“We’ve always had good numbers here, but we’re just trying to get more people out and try something maybe they haven’t before,” she said. “Come out and see why it’s so much fun. You’re never too old to throw rocks at a house.”
Kitchin said ladies of all ages are encouraged to come out, adding that member ages usually range from 17 into the 70’s.
