The snarled battle between the Myrtle Tree Farm commune and Family and Children’s Services appears to be over, as the father known as Isaac has been released from jail after spending time for contempt of court.

Kentville coroner H.C. Lindsay, who has served for 21 years, has presided over 500 inquests. Ten of the deaths were listed as murder.
Municipal councillor Opal Parker accompanied a delegation from seven school sections in the Gaspereau area to Halifax. They met with the Minister of Education to air their concerns about small children travelling to Avonport. They believe an eight-room school is warranted in Gaspereau.
Kentville has had water fluoridation for six years and it was the first community in the Atlantic provinces to adopt the treatment. Three studies Dr. W.G. Dawson of the health department said “it should be a source of justifiable pride to have another to add to the already long list of firsts.”

D.R. MacKinnon, who was put out of business by a fire in Wolfville, is having some difficulty finding a place in which to reopen his drug store, but hopes soon to be ready for business again.
Due to increasing demand, the Wolfville post office has added 116 new boxes, making a total of 529.
Wolfville curlers carry a one-man match margin over Kentville and Windsor into final play for the Calkin Trophy at the Glooscap Curling Club.
Canning native John R. Bigelow has been appointed as a forest products market representative for the provincial agriculture department. He is a graduate of Acadia University.
