Nova Scotia’s Rhapsody Quintet will appear at Wolfville’s Festival Theatre March 13 at 7:30 p.m., presented by the Acadia Performing Arts Series.
The quintet has performed salon music, light classics, theatre music and chamber music since the mid-’80s at concerts overlooking the ocean, corporate events, charity fundraisers and dinners for royalty.
Their varied program will include music from a trio of British composers, stirring music from the movies and an original composition by RQ member David Langstroth, The Four Seasons (of Nova Scotia), namely Almost Winter, Winter, Still Winter and Road Repair Season.
A suite of four Parisian waltzes by Franz Waxman, known for his compositions for Jascha Heifetz (Carmen Fantasy etc), was given to Rhapsody to play and record by his son, John Waxman, who is in charge of his father's library - quite an honour for the ensemble.
Tickets are $26 ($20 students) at the Acadia Box Office, 542-5500.
