There were no threats to Northeast Kings Education Centre Friday morning, contrary to rumours on Twitter and Facebook.
A member of NKEC office staff said a reported lockdown at the Canning middle and high school was an exterior matter.
“There were no threats against the school,” RCMP spokesman Const. Blair MacMurtery confirmed. He said a short lockdown was used while trying to confirm the location of a student.
Shortly after noon, Annapolis Valley Regional School Board superintendent Margo Tait’s office confirmed RCMP contacted the school and “alerted the principal to a possible risk and advised the school institute their lockdown procedures.
“All students and staff were safe throughout the operation,” Tait said, “and we are grateful to the RCMP.”
