Mann-Dixon makes 57 saves as 'Cats snap three-game losing streak

The Valley junior A Wildcats got back on the winning track by picking up two points Feb. 18 on the road in New Brunswick.
The Wildcats inched closer to .500 on the season by eking out a 2-1 win over the Dieppe Commandos, the second-place team in the Roger Meek Division of the Maritime Junior Hockey League.
With the win, the Wildcats improved to 19-21-4-1 on the season, good for 43 points, and snapped a three-game losing streak in the process.
Mitchell Jones opened the scoring for Valley with an even-strength goal at 9:49 of the first period, assisted by Mike Molloy and Anthony Cardinal.
Colby Tower netted the eventual game-winner on the power play at 19:02 of the second on assists from John Deacon and Austin Harding.
Lindon Beckwith got the Commandos on the board at 2:18 of the third, but that was as close as Dieppe would get on this occasion.
The story of the game was Wildcats‚Äô goalie Blade Mann-Dixon, who turned aside 57 of 58 shots as Dieppe outshot their guests by a 58-26 margin, including a 24-7 advantage in the third period.
The Wildcats are next in action Saturday evening, Feb. 22 when they host the Woodstock Slammers in a 7:30 start at the Kentville Centennial Arena. The team then travels to Truro for a 2 p.m. game Sunday afternoon.
