NEW MINAS - The fifth annual charitable handbag event in Kings County will support both Chrysalis House and the Kids Action Program.

The Helping Handbags Auction will take place Jan. 22 at the Louis Millett Community Complex in New Minas.

Donations of baby items, journals or gift cards for haircuts will be accepted at the door.

Tickets are already on sale says organizer Belinda Manning. They are $20 per person or a table of eight for $145.

The handbag auction “has been extremely popular,” Manning noted. “I hope everyone will turn out for this unique event.”

Manning added, “we also take ladies gym bags, wallets, cell phone holders, a lunch bag, ladies accessories such as new scarves, or anything which we can put inside a bag. We even have a handbag cookie jar donated.”

Handbag donation boxes are located at K-Rock, MLA John Lohr’s office in Kentville, the Village of New Minas and Exit Realty Town and Country in Greenwood.

Ticket information is available by calling 679-0644

The viewing will start at 6:30 p.m. and the auction will begin at 7 p.m. Snow day is Jan. 29.
