This is the latest court report for Kings and West Hants counties.

Time deemed served for various offences

Michael James Flynn, 40, of Lower Vaughan, has been sentenced to time deemed served for failing to stop his vehicle and give his name and address with intent to escape civil or criminal liability after being involved in an accident; failing to comply with his undertaking and failing to comply with his recognizance.

Flynn, who was present in Windsor provincial court in custody on April 3, changed his plea to guilty to the charge of failing to stop his vehicle and pleaded guilty to the other two charges. He was sentenced to one day in custody deemed served on each count. The Crown was agreeable to his release on an existing recognizance.

Flynn committed the offences in Lower Vaughan on Dec. 21, 2017, and in Windsor on Jan. 29 and March 23, 2018.

Flynn, who is also charged with committing an assault in Upper Vaughan on Dec. 21, 2017, pleaded not guilty to this charge on March 20. This matter has been adjourned to July 16 for trial.

Suspended sentence for assault

Anthony John Durling, 29, of Canning, formerly of Three Mile Plains, has been handed a suspended sentence with probation for committing an assault.

Durling pleaded guilty to the charge in February and the matter was adjourned to April 3 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Durling a suspended sentence with one year of probation and imposed a two-year firearms prohibition against him.

Durling committed the offence in Three Mile Plains on Oct. 25, 2017.

Fine, probation for stealing property

Jason Edward Young, 41, of North Kentville, has been fined and sentenced to probation for stealing property valued at less than $5,000 from the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation.

Young pleaded guilty to the charge in January and the matter was adjourned to March 29 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Claudine MacDonald fined Young a total of $26 and sentenced him to one year of probation, including 10 hours of community service work.

Young committed the offence in Kentville on Nov. 2, 2017.

Undertaking offence, mischief

Cheyanne Tanisha Amero, 25, of Aylesford, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for failing to comply with an undertaking and committing mischief.

Amero changed her plea to guilty to the undertaking charge in January and the matter was adjourned to April 4 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing. Amero was charged with two counts of assault. She maintained not guilty pleas to these charges but pleaded guilty to one count of the lesser offence of mischief on April 4.

Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed Amero a conditional discharge with one year of probation on the two charges.

Amero committed the offences in Aylesford on May 27, 2017, and in Somerset on March 12, 2017. The second count of assault was dismissed on April 4 with the Crown offering no evidence. Another count of failing to comply with an undertaking was also dismissed.

Conditional discharge for undertaking offence

Karl Sebastian French, 26, of Brooklyn, Annapolis County, has been handed a conditional discharge with probation for failing to comply with his undertaking by having contact with an individual without having a third party present.

French changed his plea to guilty in January and the matter was adjourned to April 4 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Ronda Van Der Hoek handed French a conditional discharge with one year of probation, including 25 hours of community service work.

French committed the offence in Cambridge between May 1 and July 24, 2017.
