Jean Brown
Jean Ysobel Brown, 91, of Hillaton, Kings County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville. Born on August 13, 1926, Jean was the daughter of the late John and Leontine (Chase) Forsythe. Jean’s early years were spent in the Berwick area prior to the family moving to Kentville. After completion of Grade XII at KCA, Jean spent several years in secretarial work for the Dept. of Agriculture and Marketing in Truro. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, homemaker and friend who always put the concerns and well-being of her family first. During her earlier years, Jean worked alongside Stewart managing their farm work and finances. Throughout her life, she maintained a keen interest in genealogy and enjoyed bowling, playing golf, painting and music. Together, with her late husband, she took great pride in the achievements of her expanding family, and travelled regularly to visit her many relations and friends around North America. For many years, this included an annual RV trek south to winter in Florida. She is survived by two daughters, Shirley (George "Skip") Borgal, Halifax; Faye Brown (Bob Church), Kentville; son-in-law, Jim Campbell, Windsor Junction; five grandchildren, Colin Borgal (Judit Fabian), Ottawa; Lori Borgal (Richard Vout), Exeter, England; Corey Campbell, Windsor Junction; Derek Campbell, Windsor Junction; Kaslyn Brown Grant, Kentville; great-granddaughter, Elowyn Vout; several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Stewart; daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Campbell; sisters, Frances Stewart and Edith Eaton; brother, Ronald Forsythe and sisters-in-law, Gladys Eaton, Inez MacFarlane and Thora Chisholm. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff and residents of Wedgewood House and Orchard Court for their ongoing care, compassion and friendship. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018, Reverend Ivan Norton officiating. Following the reception, interment will take place in the Hillaton Cemetery. Family flowers only.
