Local teams kicked off the 10th annual Art Lightfoot Memorial tournament Thursday night.
In the first game of the boys' high school hockey tournament, NKEC beat Horton 3-1. In the second Feb. 6 game, West Kings defeated Central Kings 2-1.
In the morning games Feb. 7, Avon View lost to Eastern Shore 5-0, NKEC lost 3-2 to Cole Harbour and Central Kings losing to Louis-Mailloux 5-1.
In the 2:45 p.m. game, West Kings vs Avon View game, West Kings won 6-1.
Play continues throughout the weekend with opening ceremonies taking place at 8 p.m. Friday night.
