Sackville Blazers snip Valley Maple Leafs 2-1 in Jr. B hockey action

WINDSOR, N.S. — The Highway 101 rivalry between the Valley Maple Leafs and the Sackville Blazers continues to intensify.

The Blazers downed the Leafs 2-1 in Windsor Nov. 25.

Fans watched a scoreless first period before Alexander Shaw, on the power-play and assisted by team captain Tyler Young, scored in the second period.

The Leafs remained in the lead until the third period when the Blazers scored 32 seconds apart to go up 2-1. Scoring for Sackville was Alexander Miller and Jessie Hamer. Assists went to Connor Theriault and Andrew Smardon.

The goalies for both teams were strong between the pipes. Samuel Kamermans picked up the win for Sackville, stopping 29 shots on goal, while Christopher Clokie was tagged with the loss. He made 30 saves.

The Leafs are back in action Nov. 27 when they visit the Port Hawkesbury Strait Pirates.

The Leafs return to Windsor Dec. 2 for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Brookfield Elks.
