The Acadia hockey Axemen were in action on home ice for the first time this season when they took on the Moncton Aigles Bleus Sept. 24 in the first game at the newly-renamed Andrew H. McCain Arena in Wolfville.

The score was tied 2-2 after two periods, with Acadia holding a 22-19 edge in shots on goal. There was no scoring in the third period or in overtime, then Moncton prevailed in the shootout.

Brett Thompson opened the scoring for the Axemen with an even-strength goal at 13:53 of the first period, the only goal of the first 20 minutes.

Moncton struck back with a pair of goals in less than a minute early in the second. Luc Williams scored at 4:34 and Steve Lebel at 5:32.

Scott Trask evened things up for Acadia with just 23 seconds remaining in the second period.
